Overall though, it was an improvement over last week, but still a long way to go. Save that for a more dramatic time later. I also don't think the show needed to reveal anything about Hank Henshaw this early on. I understand they are twins, but I think it could get confusing for some viewers. I am however skeptical of the decision to have the same actress play both Kara's aunt and mother. Still, it's something Supergirl deserves at least a little bit of credit. I think the show looks twice as good as The Flash, probably due to a bigger budget.

The effects continue to impress at least for a TV show.

In a normal world that would likely be more of a gradual thing. It was like the city hated her one second and the next they loved her. I understand it needs to eventually be addressed, but that whole story line this week felt rushed. I'm hoping that they focus more on Kara vs these type of obstacles instead of the city's opinion of her. Speaking of physical matches, I'm glad to see this show is using Kryptonite upfront because it's really the only way to humanize a Kryptonian. That is if they make him a physical match. Lord is a big character in the comics and is a potential villain that would make sense for Supergirl. I am however more interested in Kara's aunt and the potential enhanced presence of Maxwell Lord. Nor do I understand exactly the importance of Hank Henshaw's group to this show, but I'm willing to hang in there and give it a shot. I still don't buy into the fact that Winn can hack into whatever the heck he was hacking into.

But the over the top comedy mixed with the Full House cheesiness seems to be gone or at least significantly less present than last week. Cat Grant is still un-watchable at times, it was however funny to hear Cat Grant say "Sick of hearing about the Man of Steel", which is something I think every viewer is thinking. I think everything was toned down a little bit here. It's important that this show doesn't try to do too much. I don't think it has the fluidity or the likable characters of Arrow or The Flash but it does seem to be more focused than a show like Gotham. So far, I haven't been too impressed by the show, but I still have faith that it can be a solid show. While I think it was probably a little too early on in the show to tackle the media's opinion on Supergirl, the faith angle is something that can be applied to Supergirl as an entire show. Tonight's episode is centered on characters having faith in Supergirl to save the city and be who Superman is.
